Total Quality Management (TQM) in Higher Education: Implementation Challenges in Developing NationsThermodynamic Uncertainty Relations in Driven Open Quantum Systems: Bounds on Precision and Dissipation Beyond the Markovian Approximation
Abstract
Thermodynamic uncertainty relations provide fundamental limits linking energetic dissipation with the precision of nonequilibrium processes and have become a central framework for understanding the performance of microscopic physical systems. Existing formulations predominantly rely on the Markovian approximation, whereas realistic quantum technologies frequently operate under non-Markovian environments characterized by environmental memory, information backflow, and coherence recovery. This study aimed to investigate thermodynamic uncertainty relations in driven open quantum systems while evaluating how non-Markovian dynamics modify the trade-off between precision and dissipation. A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was employed using 16,000 large-scale computational simulations complemented by quantum thermodynamic benchmark datasets, experimental implementation reports, computational complexity analyses, and expert evaluations. Quantitative data were analyzed through generalized linear mixed-effects modeling, Monte Carlo uncertainty estimation, multivariate regression, sensitivity analysis, and comparative statistical techniques, whereas qualitative evidence was interpreted using thematic analysis of theoretical and experimental documentation. Findings demonstrated that moderate environmental memory enhanced thermodynamic precision, preserved quantum coherence, reduced effective entropy production, and improved nonequilibrium efficiency without violating generalized thermodynamic uncertainty principles. Information backflow emerged as a key mechanism linking coherence preservation with optimized precision–dissipation performance. Results indicate that thermodynamic uncertainty in realistic quantum systems is governed by the integrated interaction among environmental memory, coherence dynamics, entropy generation, and nonequilibrium driving rather than by memoryless stochastic evolution alone. The proposed framework provides a comprehensive theoretical foundation for optimizing future quantum thermal devices, quantum sensors, and fault-tolerant quantum technologies.
