Update to the Journal's Focus and Scope

The Editorial Board of the International Journal of Educational Narratives (IJEN) is pleased to announce an update to the journal's Focus and Scope, effective immediately.

In line with the journal's continued growth and its commitment to serving the broader educational research community, IJEN now welcomes original research employing a wider range of methodological approaches — including quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, research and development (R&D), systematic/scoping review, and conceptual or theoretical studies — in addition to its founding strength in narrative and story-based inquiry (narrative inquiry, life history, autoethnography, biographical research, and digital storytelling).

This update does not diminish the journal's core identity or its recognized expertise in narrative-centered educational research. Rather, it reflects an expansion of the journal's editorial capacity to accommodate rigorous scholarship across all major sub-disciplines of education, including curriculum and instruction, educational technology, educational psychology and counseling, educational management and policy, teacher professional development, STEM education, inclusive and special education, and citizenship and character education.

Authors are encouraged to consult the revised Focus and Scope page prior to submission to ensure alignment with the journal's updated editorial direction. All submissions will continue to be evaluated on the basis of academic rigor, originality, and contribution to the field of education, and will undergo the journal's standard double-blind peer-review process involving a minimum of two reviewers.

We thank our authors, reviewers, and readers for their continued support as IJEN works toward broader indexing recognition and sustained academic excellence.
